Ashley Tong

British-Taiwanese violinist Ashley Tong performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe and Asia. She debuted with The Taipei Symphony Orchestra at the age of 8 after winning the ‘Young Soloist competition’ and has since performed with Orchestras such as The ProArte Symphony Orchestra, The New Taipei Symphony Orchestra, and The WeiTai Symphony Orchestra. Notable appearances include duet performance with Mr. Lev Klychkov (Concertmaster of St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra) and Bach’s Double Concerto with Mr. G. Seifert (1st Violin Wiener Philharmoniker) in Austria.

She has performed in venues such as the Wigmore Hall, St. Martin in the Fields, the Royal Festival Hall, Menuhin Hall, The National Gallery in London, Taiwan National Concert Halls, Wien Musikverein, Wiener Konzerthaus, Graz Musikverien, Bösendorfer Saal in Austria, Crystal Hall in Asahikawa, Japan, Dramaten and Kungasalen in Stockholm, and Konserthuset Stockholm where she led the Aurora Festival Orchestra as concertmaster under the baton of Maestro Jukka-Pekka Saraste in collaboration with Mischa Maisky. A keen chamber musician, Ashley has also played alongside Camerata Nordica and Wiener Kammer Orchester.

Ashley began her violin studies with the violinist-conductor, Prof. Chia-Hong Drapal Liao. In 2009, Ashley was accepted to study at The Yehudi Menuhin School with Prof. Lutsia Ibragimova. She started her Bachelor studies with Prof. Krzytsztof Smietana at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Since 2015, Ashley has moved to Austria, and is currently a pupil of Prof. Eszter Haffner at the Kunst Universität Graz.
